Aït Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate
Cross the High Atlas by the Tizi n’Tichka route to the earthen ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, then continue toward Ouarzazate, the southern gateway shaped by caravan routes, kasbah architecture and film landscapes. Explore the fortified village on foot, pause for a locally chosen lunch, and return to Marrakech after a long but rewarding mountain day.
The road climbs through changing High Atlas scenery before opening toward the Ounila Valley. Aït Ben Haddou is explored on foot across the river and through compact lanes, terraces and passageways; the visit is about architecture and the way the ksar was positioned along historic routes, not simply a photo stop. Ouarzazate can be included as a short city or kasbah stop depending on road conditions and the final pace. The mountain route includes bends and uneven walking.
